AMID is funded as an Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) in the field of Health. IPCEI is an EU framework that enables five EU Member States (France, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, and Slovenia) to jointly support large-scale, high-risk research and innovation projects that are strategically important for the European Union.

The Importance of IPCEI
IPCEI Projects are Designed to:
Address major societal and economic challenges
IPCEIs aim to address market and systemic failures, as well as societal challenges that would not otherwise be addressed. Tech4Cure focuses on one of the most critical of these: faster, more personalised care for patients with cancer and other serious diseases.
Enable cross border collaboration
An IPCEI project brings together companies and institutions from several European Member States, who are EU-funded and aligned around a shared strategic value chain. AMID is built by Cosylab in collaboration with European partners whose combined expertise no single country could deliver alone.
Generate knowledge beyond individual beneficiaries
IPCEI participants are required to disseminate project results beyond the consortium and funding Member States, creating positive spillovers across the European ecosystem. Advances pioneered in AMID will benefit clinics, researchers, and patients far beyond the original partners.
Support innovation that requires public coordination and long term investment
IPCEI backs projects that demonstrate innovation beyond the global state of the art but carry technological and financial risks that are too high for the market to bear alone. Coordinated public investment turns these breakthrough ambitions into deployable European technologies.
